Last Thursday, May 23rd, Common Threads co-sponsored a forum that brought three local leaders together to talk about the issues faced and potential solutions for retaining a working waterfront and viable fishing industry.

Panelists: Ken Bell, Port of Bellingham Commissioner (Pres.), Doug Thomas, President and CEO of Bellingham Cold Storage and Chairman for the private-nonprofit – San Juan Area Sea Life, and Paul Burrill, local business owner and commercial fisher.

Each panelist shared the issues they are faced with regarding this issue and best-science solutions they are working together for the benefit of Whatcom County and Washington States’ fishing industries. This morning on “The Farming Show,” Paul Burrill was interviewed by Dillon Honcoop to talk about his testimony given at the forum and the way forward for the commercial fishing industry.

This forum was co-sponsored by Common Threads NW, the Fourth Corner, and Asset Advisors.
