A last-ditch effort to approve an update to the Watershed Management Plan for Whatcom County on time fails but hope for local input is not lost. Other local entities involved appear to be allowing more time to reach agreement.

There are still major disagreements between several “non-gov’t” caucuses and the gov’t/environmental caucuses on some of the latter’s proposals re new exempt wells: metering, lower daily withdrawal limits, and fee increases. The need for these “solutions” is questionable.
